This is not pay to play. This masterclass is not designed to get you “in” with a casting director. This is a masterclass deigned for you to learn just what it takes, what to think about and how to deliver the best mocap casting possible - ensuring that even if you don’t get the job, that casting will be one that will will get you invited back.

You will receive the casting with the same lead time as a real casting. You will have time to prepare and work on your casting with me in the morning. In the afternoon we will be joined by casting directors from Ubisoft Montreal who will help direct your castings.

Students will watch rehearsals and self tapes in order to learn from all feedback. This is a safe space where your skill as an actor will be seen in the context of learning - not a final assessment of your talent.

All selects will be shared with Richard Dorton (Mocap Vaults USA, and Paul Mawhinney and / or Gareth Taylor - Mocap Vaults UK.

Tutors: Pascal Langdale, Ubisoft Montreal Casting Directors

BIO: Pascal Langdale is an actor known for his reliable versatility across multiple media. He has worked in TV, Film, Video Game and Voice. He is a movement specialist with an expertise in nonverbal behavior, and brings his characters to life through voice, body and psychology - all adjusted to the demands of the medium.

Recent work includes Hondo Ohnaka (Star Wars) Far Cry 6 (complex Body doubling) and the voice of Bagley in Watch Dogs: Legion for which he was nominated for a Canadian Game Award. This also saw him mocap the performances for many of the NPC’s, and was movement choreographer, specialising in gesture and physicality. Once privately described by a colleague as “The Swiss Army Knife” of Motion Capture acting, Pascal has worked on numerous video games since his first role as Ethan Mars in Heavy Rain, in Voice, Mocap and Performance capture, Actor performance matching, reverse ADR, Facial Capture Operation and demo production.

Pascal co-wrote "Performing for Motion Capture" for Bloomsbury Methuen, with Director and Co-founder of The Mocap Vaults, John Dower. This is the world's first in depth resource for the education of the next generation of actors facing an increasing use of digital production not only drawing on the combined experience of the MCV teachers, but also conducting interviews with over twenty experts in all stages of the pipeline.

A born Londoner, Pascal is a graduate of The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art 3 year acting course, who made Toronto his home in 2011. He has credits in supporting roles in more than 100 TV, film roles, in the past decade in Canada, these include Killjoys, Bitten, Suits, and the Randal Okita movie, "See for Me".

Pascal is an active mentor and instructor in “Embodied Acting”, using Laban Technique and his own Psycho-Physical technique, that draws on nonverbal behavior studies. He does this through his company Collective Intent, and as head of the Canadian branch of The Mocap Vault.

*Please note that this class does not make use of mocap technology. At this stage, the technology serves only as a distraction and slows down the process considerably. We introduce the mocap studio tech later on in our curriculum.

CANCELLATION POLICY: We require seven days notice prior to the class in order to be able to offer you a refund. If you notify us within seven days of the class then we will try to find a replacement and refund you but cannot guarantee this will be possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR STUDENTS TRAVELLING LONG DISTANCES

Very rarely, for unexpected reasons, occasionally we don’t get the numbers of students we need to cover costs. This means that occasionally we may offer another MCV class or an entirely different class. This decision is normally made within 7 days of the class. Bear this in mind when booking flights or accommodation as we are not liable for these costs should we need to change the class that you are ineligible or do not want to attend. Please reach out through the contact form to be put in touch directly with the teacher to help give you the green light as early as possible.
